The Role.
As Political Director for Mobile Voting, you will work closely with the Head of Tusk Philanthropies and its Founder, playing a pivotal role in driving campaigns to pass mobile voting legislation in key cities — with the long term vision of expanding nationwide. You’ll manage multiple campaigns simultaneously, ensuring smooth execution and success at every stage. This includes overseeing local lobbyists, leading grassroots efforts, coordinating media outreach, and handling all aspects of both inside and outside strategies. Your work will be crucial in advancing mobile voting across the country.
You’ll oversee every aspect of the campaigns, including...
Strategy Development: You’ll craft creative, tailored campaign strategies that speak to the specific political climate of each city. Whether it's moving a city council to act or building public support, you’ll lead the charge. You will also help determine what cities we start with and the sequencing of the campaign from city to city and state to state.
Execution: You’ll lead the implementation of each campaign — from grassroots organizing to polling to earned media, social media, paid media, opposition research to direct lobbying efforts. You’ll ensure that our messaging is clear and consistent, and you’ll stay agile, adjusting tactics as needed.
Lobbyist Management: You’ll hire, manage, and coordinate lobbyists in each target city, ensuring they are aligned with the overall strategy and meeting campaign milestones. You’ll track their progress, provide clear directives, and keep campaigns moving forward.
Stakeholder Engagement: You’ll build coalitions with local organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders to expand support for mobile voting and mobilize tens of thousands of voters in each jurisdiction to help enact mobile voting legislation. You’ll ensure that we’re building momentum on the ground and maintaining strong relationships with all key players that can be expanded and leveraged from city to city and state to state.
Team Coordination: You’ll lead with the team (lobbyists, consultants, etc.) to ensure we’re delivering on all fronts. You’ll oversee deliverables, provide guidance, and make sure everyone is aligned with campaign goals.
Results-Driven: You’ll focus on winning. Whether it’s securing votes from city council members or building broad public support, your work will be about making mobile voting a reality.
